As You Leave

As You Leave

Give me your hand
Let your tears fill my eyes
Breaking my heart
With silent songs
That soar in my ears

The sea is frozen
Awash in your soul
Crashing my shores
With mute cries
And unspoken breath

You leave no shadow
In winter sun’s depths
Blossom in barren land
Scents of my mind
Buried in clay

Give me your hand
Let your love fill my heart
Breaking my life
As I join with you
In death’s sweet kiss

    1. Christy, thank you so much for your lovely words, my friend. The subject matter of this type of poem is very different for me, a bit ‘outside the box’ – it was actually a dream that woke me up twice last night to write parts of it. When the muse calls, we write, lol. ~ Love, Julie xox

  1. “Let your tears fill my eyes”….is one of the most beautiful images that I have read. Your expression, Julie strikes through all emotion to the deepest ability to give voice to words that often cannot speak. Complete Beauty. Love, Linda

  2. Julie, I just hope that Ethel and I do not face the ending this poem so lovingly expresses anytime soon. Having cancer and fighting it makes you realize so many things about life. This is a profound poem that I’m only partly up to reading and commenting on this evening.

    1. Thomas, I’m thrilled that you were able to come by to read tonight – it’s always such an honor to read your wonderful comments. I sincerely hope you and Ethel are not faced with this anytime soon either; and I admire how you are determined to fight this horrible disease. Wishing you a peaceful night, and sending lots of positive healing thoughts to you always. ~ Julie xox
